I saw something on social media the other day that pointed out that 1971 to 1918 is the same amount of time as 1971 to 2024.
Take a moment and let that sink in.
the last two seem very young.. will there be any further new gb members or will they all die off?.
i still remember when tony morris and a few other joined many were disappointed thinking the current crop would be the last.

Another good article about the Norway verdict.(Apologies if already posted)
did i misinterpret something or read something wrong?.
did the gb say recently that they are to be dead or pulled out of earthly existence before the great tribulation?.
if so, can someone point me to jw literature or a thread on this topic?.
When this change was made,I thought it might have been a way for the GB to solve the overlapping generation problem.
By removing the need for Armageddon to arrive before the anointed were gone, they could claim that the generation of anointed were still alive to witness the start of the great tribulation and be in heaven, ready to rumble, just in time for Armageddon
This could have allowed them to declare the start of the great tribulation and prolong it indefinitely, and, maybe buy themselves more time by keeping JW's in a heightened state of expectation. It would also remove the need to appoint ever younger men as GB members and use helpers instead.
Eventually, years later, when hardly anyone is alive that remembers 1914, they could reveal 'new light' in the form of a Christian death metal video, featuring an A.I. version of Stephen Lett, and start all over again.
both political and religious true believers often distinguish themselves by their limitless arrogance towards people who dare hold different opinions from them.
every thing has to be done on their terms; people who think differently cant expect to have the same rights as those who consider themselves true believers.
in this way a elite is created a kind of spiritual master race.
The GB talks about 'false prophets of deception' and the need for them to die.
And yet:

jehovah's witnesses have failed in an eleventh hour attempt to block part of a lengthy report about abuse in care that is about them.. .
Jehovah's Witnesses is the only religious group to take legal action against the commission.

so as they say one picture is as strong as a thousand words and here you have it guys in the latest study edition of the watchtower for october 2024 that has just been posted on their website a middle aged jw window cleaner dreaming of the new system where things will get better.
why does the watchtower need to talk now about jws on minial self employed jobs?
If you are in your 40's or 50's and have stayed in your career, you would be considered a leader in your industry. You have probably mentored younger employees, continuously learned new technology and kept up with changes in your field.
Looking at the picture of the window cleaner, we see a middle aged man doing a brain dead job that a monkey could be taught to do. The context is that he has chosen menial, low stress work so that he can devote his energy to spiritual matters, therefore he is happy.
Apparently, work enjoyment and satisfaction is closely tied to mental health. If you are working in the field you are most interested in, the happier you are. Of course there are exceptions to this and nothing is guaranteed but overall this is generally the case.
I'm not saying this guy isn't happy and I'm not saying owning your own window cleaning business is a bad thing either. However, anyone that has worked in a menial, repetitive job for decades, where nothing ever changes, is likely to question their life choices at some point. And once you feel that first hint of job dissatisfaction, it's hard to shake.
He chose window cleaning because he built his life choices on the foundation of a particular belief system. That was back in the 1980's - in 2024 that foundation has been completely changed.
do you recall any?.
i was told that john denver hated jw's with a vengeance - any truth in that?.
also, annie lennox - i was told before a concert she asked any jw's present to leave?.
This stuff was rampant in the 80's. It was hard to disprove in the pre-internet days, so it kept persisting as jw urban legend.
i'm interested to know the age demographics here.
it must be significantly different to other exjw forums.
it would be a damning report for watchtower if most of us appear to have left for decades.. you don't have to mention your exact age, you could always say "in my 50s".. i am in my 70s.
Gen X
this thread currently has over 300 comments.. it shows a picture of an older man washing a window looking wistfully… then it talks all about how some may have doubts about not having planned and the situation they are in now that they are older, etc.
it refers to others who did plan and who supposedly have ‘apparent’ financial security.
in my opinion, the whole gist of this article is to make older witnesses feel better who did not pursue a career or plan well for retirement.. it tries to imply that those others who planned only have ‘apparent’ financial security - which is to say they don’t (?).
Unless someone is prepared to pay your bills for you, they have no right to tell you what financial decisions you should make in your life.
I know an elder/ pioneer, born in the early - mid 1960's. Father was a missionary/ pioneer. He is the typical poster boy for the org. Pioneered his entire life along with his wife- still pioneering- no kids, rents a house and has a window washing business. He is the super spiritual type.
He was extremely disappointed that the age limit for circuit overseers was changed- he just missed out by being a couple of years too old after the change. And now of course, he is getting older.
What has been his reward for his loyalty? He has witnessed nothing but prophetic failures all his life. Im sure he believed he would never get old and was looking forward to the end coming long, long ago. The sad thing is I know for a fact he is a fairly intellligent guy that could have probably excelled in a chosen career that would have been much more satisfying.
this is a continuation of the discussion which sprang from an unrelated topic.. so according to genesis, who told the first lie?
god told eve that if she ate from the tree of knowledge she would die that very same day.
in response to that statement the devil told her she would not die.. eve ate from the tree and did not die.
This then suggests all these elements of the story are primarily etiological. Just as the story is a mythical origin story for why women struggle in childbirth while other animals generally don't and why snakes have no legs, the story is a folk-tale-style treatise on human nature.
There are stories like this in indigenous groups everywhere. For example, the boomerang was once a straight stick that held up the sky but bent because of the weight. That story holds as much credibility as a talking snake. Yet the majority of the world's population belongs to off shoots of abrahamic religions that has a talking snake at the foundation of their beliefs, whether they realise it or not.
